Flower Stock Search
Commercial Stock Flower Photography
There are basically two ways in which images can be searched for on this site.
- via the individual categories
- flowers
- landscapes
- fungi
- leaves
- seeds and berries
- blossoms
- via the "Image Search" button
The "Image Search" button does have slightly more
options than can be found from within the Catagories.
for example the image search will allow flowers to be
searched for using their latin names.
Although neither my wife nor I are botanical experts
we have tried our best to get the names of the flowers / fungi / etc correct.
We don't doubt that there are probably some which are incorrect,
in which case please let us know and we will correct them.
We have tried to make the picture search as user friendly and intuitive as possible,
however if you think you have an idea for improving the search then please
feel free to drop us a line.
We hope you enjoy the images on this site.
Flower Pictures - Wildflower and Garden Flower
The flower pictures on this site are a mixture of both wild and cultivated.
Flower pictures can be searched using the following criteria:
- Common Name
- Latin Name
- Colour
- Wild (All)
- Cultivated (All)
The colour search is fairly broad and has been based on the colour range
used in most modern flower books. In some cases where flowers are more than
one colour we have tried to put them in the colour section that reflects
the most dominant colour. It is worth noting that in may cases the colour
of a flower can be affected by soil composition, altitude etc so some
tolerence will need to be applied when searching by colour.
The colours are:
- Blue - light to dark blue or violet blue
- Yellow - light yellow to orange
- Red - Pink to dark red, purple or redish violet
- White - White to cream
- Green - Green(ish) to brown(ish)
Fungi Pictures - Mushrooms and Toadstools
The fungi pictures on this site have all been taken in the UK.
Owing to the fact that we are not a botanical site we have purposely been
general when naming fungi and have tended to stick to "class" or "family"
names only. For example all Amanitas are simply grouped under the heading
of Amanita. Specific fungi names have been avoided.
Fungi pictures can be searched using the following criteria:
The colours in the images have been kept as faithful
as possible to the actual colours of the fungi themselves.
In some cases this has caused a few headaches in terms of
identification as some of the colours are not as they are
described in some of the books. However, they are as we found
them and we have tried to keep them as natural as possible.
Please note we cannot be held responsible for any
naming inaccuracies on this site and strongly advise users
to double check fungi names and identifcation before taking
any actions based on indentifications found on this site.
DO NOT eat or touch any fungi unless you are
sure that they are correctly indentified.
Leaves Pictures
The leaves pictures have not been categorized under individual names. This
may change at a later date but for now they simply listed and displayed as
pictures.
The pictures are of leaves taken throughout the seasons - Autumn, Winter, Spring, Summer.
Seeds and Berries Pictures
The seeds and berries pictures have been categorized by common name.
As with all the other pictures, we have tried to keep the colours as
faithful as possible.
